Anthony Cox: double bass, cello, electric bass.
Anthony Cox’s career has spanned over 30 years encompassing music education, composition, and performance that include an extensive list of collaborations, performances, and recordings with notable artists in the field of jazz. The list includes Sam Rivers, Joe Lovano, Geri Allen, Kenny Wheeler, Ed Blackwell, Billy Higgins, John Scofield, The NDR Big Band, Dino Saluzzi, and Henry Threadgill.
Cox recently since November of 2018 has been involved in a recording project that will be released in late spring of 2019 on Cox’s independent label: “Resurgence Records”.
The musicians featured are: Anthony Cox electric bass, acoustic bass guitar and cello, Peruvian guitarist Andres Prado, American Tenor Saxophonist Brandon Wozniak, and Norwegian drummer/electronic musician, Terje Evensen.
The quartet goes by the name “Los Blackeros” which Cox emphasized a collective approach to the music allowing for a wide arra of textures from grooved based improvisations, experimental electronics to contemporary chamber approaches. The Album is at this point called “Terrains” highlighting the different textures offered on the album.
